Living Simply

The great lesson is that the sacred is in the ordinary, that it is to be found in one’s daily life, in one’s neighbors, friends, and family, in one’s backyard.” – Abraham Maslow

Homesteading is not just about growing your own food or keeping chickens. It’s about bringing the necessities like entertainment and education home. As an modern homesteader, you take power into your own hands to live a better, more self-reliant life no matter where you live or whatever the circumstances. It can be as simple as bringing a cloth bag to the grocery or making a meal at home – and inviting neighbors to join in!

For the girls of the family, a modern homesteader’s wardrobe is not complete without aprons.  Aprons are very “eco conscious” if you think about it. In the days of old, folks couldn’t just throw their dirty clothes in a washing machine and push a couple of buttons. It took hours to do the laundry, so aprons are a practical way  to keep clothes clean, saving both time and water.

By simplifying our lifestyle, we are by no means depriving ourselves. In fact, these simple steps empower us to live a more fulfilling, satisfying life enjoying the change of seasons and challenges of life.

Although sometimes, the simple life, at times, doesn’t seem as “simple” as following the mainstream. It’s about making conscious choices to reduce our impact and building a home life that nurtures the body and soul.
